Techfasting - giving up a technology for a period
of time on a frequent basis.
I shared the concept of tech fasting at Ignite, which was during the after-party for BarCamp Nashville 2009. The idea is if we take breaks from technologies that are hurting us, we’ll learn how to best use them, and not allow them to use us. Here are the slides. What do you think? Do I have a career in telling jokes in bars?
Start a tech fast! It'll be posted on the site so we can keep you accountable and we'll show you how.
“What we needed to know about cars—as we need to know about computers, television, and other technology—is not how to use them, but how they use us. In the case of cars, what we needed to think about in the early twentieth century was not how to drive them but what they would do to our air, our landscape, our social relations, our family life, and our cities.”
